Bhagwad Gita Shloka

"Aham
sarvasya prabhavo, Mattah sarvam pravartate
Iti matva bhajante mam, Budha bhava samanvitah"
I
am the source of all spiritual and material worlds. Everything emanates from Me. The wise
who perfectly know this engage in my devotional service and worship me with all their
hearts
The 34th verse
of chapter 6 of Bhagwad Gita specifically mentions that the individual self is the
passenger in the chariot of the material body and the intelligence is the driver. Mind is
the driving instrument and the senses are the horses. The self is thus the enjoyer or
sufferer in the association of the mind and senses.
cancalam hi manah krsna pramathi balavaddrdham
tasyaham nigraham manye vayoriva suduskaram (34) (ch.6)
Intelligence is supposed to direct the mind, but the mind
is so strong and obstinate that it often overcomes even ones own intelligence. The
mind is strong and obstinate and like one cannot capture the blowing wind, it is even more
difficult to capture the turbulent mind. Hence, the easiest way to keep the mind in
control is the chanting of Hare krshna, the great mantra for deliverance.

(Arjun, I am the detached
and passionless strength of the powerful and the virtuous desire in men.
ye
caiva sattvika bhava rajasastamasasca ye
matta everti tanviddhi na tvaham tesu temayi (12)
I am the source of all
good (satva) passionate (rajas) and dark (tamas) attributes, yet I am not within them nor
are they within me
Tribhirgunamayairbhavairebhih
sarvamidam jagat
Mohitam nabhijanati mamebhyah paramavyayam (13)
The entire world is
deluted by these three attributes (Satva, Raj, Tam) and therefore, cannot recognize the
Eternal me who is beyond them.
Daivi
hyesa gunamayi mama maya duratyaya
Mameva ye prapadyante mayametam taranti te (14)
This divine Maya of mine
with its threefold characteristics is highly complex. However, those who worship me are
able to overcome it.
Na mam
duskrtino mudhah prapadyante naradhamah
Mayayapahrtajnana asuram bhavamasritah (15)
Those who are attracted
by Maya lose their mind. Captivated by baser instincts these sinful, stupid and evil men
do not worship me.
Caturvidha
bhajante mam janah sukrtinorjuna
Arto jijnasurartharthi jnani ca bharatarsabha (16)
Arjun, there are four
kinds of good people who worship me; those who desire earthly gain,s those who are
suffering, those who seek knowledge and those who possess wisdom.
Tesam
jnani nityayukta ekabhaktirvisisyate
Priyo hi jnaninotyarthamaham sa ca mama priyah (17)
Of these, the wise who
are assiduous and the single mindedly devoted to Me, are the most outstanding. I am very
dear to them and so are they to me.
Udarah

Asthitah sa hi yuktatma mamevanuttamam

Although all those who
worship Me are admirable but the wise are my soul. These accomplished individuals achieve
the highest goal of merging in me.

Bhagwad gita says:
buddhir jnanam

Ahimsa samta tusti, tapodanam yaso yasah, bhavanti bhava bhutanam, matta eva prthag

(in short means, the qualities of human
beings are all created by the lord Krishna. These qualities of intelligence, knowledge,
freedom from doubt and delusion, forgiveness, truthfulness, control of senses, mind,
happiness and distress, birth, death, fear, fearlessness, nonviolence, equanimity,
satisfaction, austerity, charity, fame and infamy are all to be on guard.) Ksama,
tolerance and forgiveness, should be practiced; one should be tolerant and excuse the
offenses of others. Then there is peace, then there is love and when there is love,

"samtustah satatam yogi

He who hates no one, is
friendly and compassionate to all, free from thoughts of 'I' and 'mine', equal alike in
joy and sorrow, ever forgiving (Gita-12:13) Ever content, self controlled, of firm
resolve, such is he, having surrendered his mind and heart to me, the devotee dear to me
