In his blog to bid farewell to the year 2011
and to welcome the New Year Chief Minister Narendra Modi said
the year 2011 could be best described by the word ‘Protest’. The
year that has gone by demonstrated the power people’s protest
whereas, he hoped, the New Year will demonstrate the power of
collective efforts and inclusive growth.

Gujarat’s yearlong Swarnim Jayanti celebration’s grand finale
spread over four days will be held from April 28 to May 2,
culminating in a magnificent variety entertainment programs at
Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad on the state’s foundation day
on May 1 and its repeat programme at the same venue on May 2,
2011.
April 25
The 'Armed Forces’ will play Symphony Band at Kankaria in
Ahmedabad at 6 p.m and in Rajkot on 25, Gujarat Government’s
spokespersons Health Minister Jay Narayan Vyas and Minister of
State for Energy Saurabh Patel informed here today.
April 28
The statues of prominent leaders will be cleaned, important
buildings and roads will be illuminated by people’s
participation in all the district and taluka towns.
April 29
Governor Dr Kamlaji will inaugurate the mega exhibition of
‘Glimpses of Gujarat’s development during the last decade’ under
the 1.25-lakh sq ft dome at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar at 6
p.m.
April 30
The Para Military and Police Forces will march past the central
vista from Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue to Mahatma Mandir in
Gandhinagar at 6 p.m. along with tableaux depicting the state’s
all round development, to the accompaniment of bands from
different districts and schools. A conference of Non-Resident
Gujaratis will be held on the theme ‘Swarnim Gujarat; Vaishwik
Gujarat’ based on ‘Golden Gujarat; Global Gujarat’.
Chief Minister Narendra Modi will flag off a huge torch rally
from the same venue in the evening. Similar torch rallies will
be simultaneously taken out in different parts of the state the
same day at 7.45 p.m.
May 1
Being celebrated as Gujarat’s Gaurav Divas to mark the state’s
foundation day, the Chief Minister will pay floral tributes to
the martyrs of ‘Mahagujarat Andolan’ near the historic fort at
Bhadra in Ahmedabad at 8 a.m. A seminar on 'what could be the
contribution of retired IAS, IPS and Forest officers' for
Gujarat will be held at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar the same
day.
The yearlong celebration’s grand concluding function will be
held on May 1 at 6 p.m. at Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad in
august presence of the Governor and Chief Minister, among
others. Over 5,000 artistes will present a cultural programme,
starting with ‘Vande Gujarat’ to ‘Aage Kadam’ as the theme. It
is scheduled to be telecast, too.
May 2
The culutural programme will be repeated at the same venue on
May 2 at 6.30 p.m., in deference to people’s enthusiasm to watch
such functions live, as observed in the past.
All government and semi-government will be illuminated in the
state through April 28 to May 3, befitting the golden jubilee
celebrations.
The grand finale will be in addition to the five zonal functions
being held from April 15 to 25, based on the theme of ‘Panch
Shakti’ to showcase to the world, the ‘Gujarat model of
development’ reflecting the strength of 6-crore people of
Gujarat, the spokespersons ministers said.
The zonal functions began with ‘Jan Shakti’ at Dahod on April
15, followed by themes of ‘Raksha Shakti’ at Anand on April 19,
‘Gyan Shakti’ at Surat on April 21, ‘Urja Shakti’ at Palanpur on
April 23 and ‘Jal Shakti’ at Rajkot on April 25.

The Golden Jubilee Mega Festival made a historic mark in the
history. Swarnim Gujarat Mahotsav was inaugurated by the
Governor in the august presence of Chief Minister Shri Narendra
Modi, Member of Lok Sabha Shri Lal Krishna Advani, Leader of
Opposition in Lok Sabha Smt Sushma Swaraj, Leader of Opposition
in Rajya Sabha Shri Arun Jaitley, Chief Ministers of various
States, Deputy Chief Ministers and eminent leaders. Prominent
among those participated at the mega festival included
Opposition leader in Lok Sabha Smt Sushma Swaraj, Opposition
leader in Rajya Sabha Shri Arun Jaitley, Chief Ministers and
Deputy Chief Ministers from various states, former Central
Ministers. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Keshbhai Patel,
present Ministers, MPs, MLAs, religious heads were also present.
Golden Jubilee Mega Festival opened to an overwhelming public
response, Sardar Patel stadium was packed to its capacity. As
such, the show was performed again next day. It was converted in
to cauldron of cultural diversity. Original and congenial
Gujarati music and songs pervaded the stadium mesmerized
audience.
Ex. Deputy Prime Minister and M.P, Shri Lal Krishna Advani said,
“It has been my proud privilege that I am representing
Gandhinagar in Lok Sabha. Gujarat is fortunate to have visionary
leader like Narendra Modi, who has burning desire to act upon
his dreams. In a true sense, the celebrations have become
people’s festival .It is not just an official function. Shri
Modiji devotes credit of Swarnim Gujarat to the people.”
Fifty years since its inception, Gujarat stands out as one of
the most progressive states, acclaimed nationally and
internationally .On the occasion of Golden Jubilee, Chief
Minister extended warm greetings to the people. He said, “I
deeply value contribution from all. The 5.5-crore Gujaratis
ought to take one pledge, it would take Gujarat forward by
5.5-crore steps during the golden jubilee mega festival."He
expressed gratitude towards martyrs of Maha Gujarat Movement.He
said, "We have to realize the dream cherished by Ravishankar
Dada and Induchacha, the land belongs to Pujya Bapu." He
added, "We have concentrated on 50 issues, in the next ten
years. The state government is all set to mark 50
Golden-Landmarks in next 10 years. Common vision, common goal,
common dreams, Gujarat has potential to fulfil golden goals. "
Swarnim Sankalp Jyot Rath Yatra began on
12th February 2010 on the auspicious ocassion of Shiv Ratri to
mark the people's festival of 50 Glorious years of Gujarat.
Every citizen of the State participates in the celebrations of

It's a matter of pride for all of us in Gujarat and I am
happy to be a part of the Team.
The ‘Khel MahaKumbh Flame’ will flag off from Shahibaugh Police
stadium on 20th November, which will arrive at taluka and
district places on 21st. The district Panchayat, seat-wise
competitions would begin on 22nd. As per the schedule, from 22nd
to 25th the District Panchayat, Municipality and Municipal
Zone-wise competitions are to be held. From 26th to 29th the
taluka-level contests are to be held. Direct district level
competitions are on anvil from 25th to 1st Dec. Inter district
competitions are to be held from 1st to 4th Dec. Special
coaching session is arranged with an aim to polish their talents
for the players from 5th to 7th Dec. All the state level
sporting competitions up to semifinal stage are scheduled to be
held between 8th to 12th Dec.
