Safe Surfing for Kids Online |
www.kidsfreesouls.com alias www.sambhaav.com/indexkids.htm is now rated as ICRA MEMBER!!! ICRA stands for Internet Content Rating Association, an International Organization that offers Educators and parents with more options with the new Web Rating system that lets users filter out certain kinds of web content. The aim is to protect children from viewing potentially harmful material online and protect free speech on the Internet. Formed in 1999 with its origin way back in 1994 with US based recreational Software Advisory Council Internet (RSACi), the new system consist of Self Rating that works with Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator. The second part of the system, a filter that allows parents to set their own controls, will be launched in mid-2001.
The system gives users a great deal of flexibility in their choices of what should and shouldn't be seen in their home or workplace. The browser's filtering system can of course be disabled and enabled easily but only if one has the password! The broad topics covered are nudity & sex, violence, language and chat. ICRA also adds drugs, alcohol, tobacco and weapons to the original four rating categories. A site carrying an ICRA label is perceived as most trustworthy than the site that is not labeled. Parents of kids can set their browser to allow or disallow to access websites. Kidsfreesouls also now rated as ‘Safe Surf’ by safesurf.com and labeled as ‘Family site’ too.
