How has this week been? Hope you took time to chew on the workshop material on parenting. Well this week as promised, we are going to discuss about stress coping methods and relaxation.
I discovered that it is very essential to be relaxed and calm to be able to function effectively. It is very difficult to solve problems, perform well and negotiate when we ourselves are stressed about something.
Like a breath of fresh air, it is that thing which elevates the spirit, gives a sense of direction, a strong motivation and a sense of purpose. It is about finding answers in the most unexpected places. It could be someone you meet while travelling, it could be a movie, a play or a quote which grabs your attention .It could be a story, a novel, an article which stirs you up, an incident you see. It could be anything at all!
Referring to your previous note on modifying parenting practices, I would like to know more about being patient and understanding towards our children. My daughter is 4 years old and very energetic. She does not understand when I explain things and is also very stubborn. Also with the birth of my second child, she has become even more mischievous. I sometimes lose my cool.
Could you please guide me as to how I can deal with my child’s fussy- eating? She is 4 years old and refuses to eat things that I make. She is very fond of eating junk food like chips and pizzas but never can eat a wholesome meal. I try to feed her while watching TV because that’s the only time she won’t reject anything on her plate. I suppose this eating pattern is not healthy. Please could you suggest something for this?
My children watch far too much television. When I try to get them to read or play outside, they have no interest. I've taken the TV sets from their bedrooms, but they find a way to get to watch their favourite shows anyway. What should I do to keep them away from the TV?
TV watching is not bad if it is monitored in the time and content of the shows.
I was just reading on your site and bookmarked it....Your advice is very sound and solid. So, I was wondering if you could direct me as to how to deal with my daughter? I am a single mom with a very limited income and I don't know what else to do except to go try to find free help online somehow.
I read your suggestions for students and thought of writing to you about my problem. I am a high school student. Lately I am being teased very often by my class mates. They pick up anything I do or say and make it a laughing stock. I am frustrated and don’t know what to do. If I tell them that it makes me angry, they say I am ‘un cool’. Don’t you think they are being so un cool in teasing me? I don’t want to tell my parents or teachers about it. It will simply become a big issue. What do I tell them that will shut them up completely?
