Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi to address India Today Conclave 2013 at 8.00 p.m. on 16th March 2013. The Theme of the Conclave this year is ‘Reinventing Democracy.

In a 2 day Conclave, in his opening speech Mr. Aroon Purie, Chairman, India Today Group said, ‘When the youth erupted and defied the barricades and withstood teargas shells in Delhi, no political leader, young or old, had the courage or credibility to face them. The platitudes of politicians, uttered from the comfort zone of power, sounded silly and empty. There seems to be a widening gap between governments and the people.’

The dramas for democracy, or towards greater freedom, that enacted themselves in different parts of the world had a youthful imprint. They found an apposite venue for mobilisation, the Internet. Governments in countries like India and China went after social media. In late 2012, Pakistan found perhaps its own avatar of Anna Hazare in cleric Tahir ul-Qadri. Qadri effectively used social media to organise his followers. In Bangladesh, social media played an important role in the Shahbag square spring. The theme speaks of this here on its Conclave website.

Chief Minister Narendra Modi with his NaMo Mantra has adopted the Good Governance with the 5 P’s: Purpose, Principles, Process, People, Product. He has created a society of one heart and one mind with 6 crore people of Gujarat with ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ with the development journey of Gujarat.
